Plant care

Care and Tips
  • QUARANTINE IS A MUST WHEN YOU BUY A NEW PLANT
  • Do not re-pot the plants you received for at least 3 weeks.
  • Let the plants acclimate into your house environment.
  • Place your new plant in a bright indirect light. Remember that these are tropical plants that grow best with warm, humid and a bright indirect light environment.
  • Monstera and Philodendron seem very resilient with low humidity once they start producing leaves.
CHUNKY SOIL MIX

Orchid Bark
Perlite
Worm castings
Charcoal (optional)
Coco chips (optional)
Organic soil / coco coir
Osmocote (slow release fertilizer)

  • I don’t measure them. I prefer to have less soil. The chunky the mix the better.
  • Aroids like airy substrate.

I like to re-pot my plants in warmer months as it is easier for them to bounce back. Re-pot when there’s a lot of roots coming out from the bottom of the pot.

Rule of thumb for repotting.

2-3” pot  wide and height from the previous pot she is in.

I like to use clear plastic to observe roots. Pots must have really good drainage.

HOW TO WATER?

Water your plants when the dirt is separating from the pot. I like to water them when the pot is so light to carry and the leaves are a bit droopy. Monsteras like the Thai constellation like to dry out or at least half of the soil is dry before watering. I like to give them a good shower once a month for dust and pest prevention.

FERTILIZER

Your plant has a slow release fertilizer that is good for 3-4 months.

I fertilize my plants mostly through spring to fall.

Any fertilizer you can use as long as there are NPK nutrients to it.

PEST PREVENTION

I use neem oil mixture. Spray them once a month followed by Beneficiary Bugs.

All care and tips are my personal experience and it works for my plant collection.

Thank you so much for supporting my small business.
